Electrical Services

Iroko's primary DC electrical services are 24 volt but there is a number of 12 volt circuits, each with its own 24>12v step-down transformer.

DC power is supplied by two 12-volt, 110Ah (24v) engine starting batteries and six 12-volt, 110Ah (24v) service batteries

Mains (230v AC) electricity is provided by a choice of the following:

16 Amp shore hook-up

7kw mains petrol generator

4kw mains inverter

Each mains supply is protected by RCD consumer units with circuit breakers.

Battery charging is by main engine alternator or by Sterling 20amp automatic charger powered by either shore power or the petrol generator.

LED lighting in most areas, USB power/charger points, 24v and 12v car-style sockets

Heating and

Hot Water

A Webasto 9kw diesel boiler provides hot water via a 40 litre calorifier and space heating via fan assisted radiators in the for’d cabin, saloon and deckhouse. Heated towel rail in heads.  Boiler controlled by 7-day programmer in deckhouse.

Electric water heating is also available via a mains immersion heater in the calorifier.  This may be powered by shore hook-up or the petrol generator.
