Hull stripped back to bare wood from keel to waterline, primed with International Primocon and two coats of red International Cruiser Uno antifouling applied. Bootstrap primer and painted white with International Toplac.
Hull topsides stripped back to bare wood from bootstrap to rubbing strake. Some serious rot was discovered behind extensive epoxy repairs that had been made to the starboard rubbing strake. It was decided that this should be completely eradicated and the entire rubbing strake was removed from both sides.
Damaged top iroko plank (previously behind starboard rubbing strake) cleaned and sanded back to sound wood, rotted timber removed, rot killer applied, damaged areas filled with two-part epoxy wood-filler.
Four coats of International Woodskin applied to entire hull between bootstrap and top plank.
Four coats of International Yacht Primer applied to top plank (site of rubbing strake) followed by two coats of brown Epifane’s Yacht Enamel.
Varnished above deck wood stripped back to bare wood and four coats of International Woodskin applied. Painted cabin and lower deckhouse sides sanded back, primed and finished with brown Epifane’s Yacht Enamel.
Corroded fuel pipes between fuel tank gate valves and primary fuel filters replaced with marine grade plastic piping and fuel stopcocks fitted for engine fuel and water heater supply. New engine fuel pump and pipes fitted.
Gas cooker and gas water heater removed. 7Kw mains power generator installed in aft locker with exhaust to existing skin fitting just above waterline. 4Kw pure sine wave mains inverter installed in engine room.
Unservicable Webasto warm air heater removed. Flue, flue vent and flue cladding removed from deckhouse and deckhouse roof. Flue opening sealed with steel plate, obsolete heating trunking removed.
24v fan assisted radiators installed in for’d cabin, saloon and deckhouse; heated towel rail in heads; manual 3-way valve (heating/hot water/both) fitted behind companionway to saloon; header tank fitted above cabin roof, expansion tank fitted below deckhouse seating.
Webasto Thermo Pro 90 water heater fitted in engine room with exhaust to new skin fitting and fuel supply from starboard fuel tank; 40 litre twin coil calorifier and immersion installed in engine room, all pipe work and hoses between components.
Cold water supply from pump to taps replaced with new expansion tank, new hot water supply with expansion tank from calorifier to taps installed.
Baby Blake sea toilet removed and replaced by Jabsco ceramic head with electric flush and macerator. Shower mixer and head replaced with modern thermostatic mixer and power shower head.
Faulty Sterling battery charger replaced with new of same make and type (24v, 20 amp). Two 110Ah service batteries removed and six 110Ah batteries installed with equidistant parallel lead lengths, new connector boxes and battery isolator switches.
New switch panels installed at helm with new wiring to 24v and 12v services as appropriate. Obsolete Simrad chartplotter and faulty Seafarer sonar replaced by Garmin plotter, NMEA 2000 network, Garmin GPS antenna, Garmin sonar and new Garmin transducer. Secondary GPS moved to central instrument panel. Wiring rerouted. New DSC ship’s radio installed and ship’s radio licence obtained. Engine hours counter and rudder angle display fitted
Mains wiring – mainly solid twin and earth house cabling – removed and replaced with Arctic 3-core flex. New shore input socket fitted. New mains power RCD consumer units installed, one each for shore, generator and inverter. 4-way rotary selector switches installed, one for galley circuit, one for other sockets; 3-way rotary selector switch fitted for battery charger and immersion heater.
LED lighting in deckhouse, saloon, galley, heads, for’d cabin. 19v television transformer and lead, omni-directional television aerial and amplifier installed. 12v, 24v and USB sockets installed in saloon, for’d cabin and deckhouse.
Wifi system installed. Full LTE band, omni-directional 4G/3G/2G, dual polarised, ultra wideband antenna mounted on mizzen mast. Huawei 4G/3G/2G 300 Mbs (max) wifi router installed in deckhouse.
Port of Registry (MCA Part 1) changed to Inverness. Ship’s name and port of registry applied to stern in acrylic letters as required by MCA.
Two Dorade vents at rear of deckhouse removed and fibreglass applied over external surface of roof vents. Deckhouse roof surface repaired where required.
New sink-pin anchor connector fitted to CQR anchor; roller jaws widened to accommodate anchor arm. New reversible switching controls for windlass.
New galley worktops, stainless steel sink and lever mixer tap installed. New Panasonic NN-CF853WBPQ Premium Combination Oven, 32 Litre, 1000 Watt, 2-level convector fan oven/microwave/grill installed and hard-wired to boat's AC circuit. New Caterlite "semi-commercial", 2-burner induction hob installed (3kw with temperature control and timer).
Carpet tiles laid in saloon, forecabin and galley.
